Hello Group,

At last some clear weather! :)

http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/images/nb/carina_mosaic.jpg

Four panel mosaic. 16 mins per panel. The image above is reduced to about half size, and even then is close 800k in size, so dial-up users beware...might take a while.

Progessive .jpg the image will increase in res as it downloads.

Wow, that is quite the frame filler. Was that 16 minutes combined exposure (4:4:4:4), or per channel?

LRGB 4:4:4:4 only blended the luminance 40% to preserve the star colours.

The original .tiff file is 6500 x 4200 pixels and 156 megabytes.

Nice one Peter. Did you automate the imaging sequence for whole the mosaic? If so, using what software?

Cheers, Marcus

Amazing clarity - a beautiful picture Peter.

All the best

Now that is some nice shooting Peter, very crisp and clear, sort of has a velvet appearance about it, well done.

I used the extremely complicated PME joystick and mark-one eyeball :)
(as a result the overlap could probably have been better)

As for software...I still use CCDops more than anything else. It is very robust
and I believe its guiding algorithm is still the best available.

very nice image peter what setup did you use for this image?

Thanks Rob, and of course everyone else!

RCOS 14.25" @ F7.9, STL11K & PME ....the heavy artillery as my son calls it :)

I'm still honing in the RC's optical alignment. Top left field is still pear shaped
but isolating the cause is proving to be frustrating :(

Certainly is the big picture Peter. Just fantastic....so much detail sharp as a tack and so smooooth....A wonderful image

A prime effort Peter. Can't believe you didn't automate the acquisition sequence - for that alone I take my hat off to you. I wouldn't do it any other way to reduce overlap inefficiency (using ACP). The RC collimation and/or camera optical axis alignment issues you mention are certainly not pronounced. I'm still waiting for you to present that “killer” image that matches your skill and perhaps more importantly, the equipment capabilities. Perhaps not possible at your location...

Beautiful. I'd have that printed 20x30 and hung on a wall :)

Thanks Jase!

Several gigawatts of ubran lights surrounding my backyard, and a job that has me out of the country for half the year make it tough...but hey...I'll happy to bumble along for now.... :)
