View Full Version here: : My other water drop.
Now that the Feb comp is over, I thought I'd post my other water drop shot.
The plant is a 'Mexican Cactus', very colourful and quite pretty to look at.
Focus was quite difficult to achieve with such a shallow DOF.

OK, Andrew... why did you choose the other one over this one? Toss of a coin?:P:) They're both superb shots...
Al.
Andrew that is some awesome shot, stunning in fact.

Hi Andrew,
Brilliant composition and colour. No need to have a shot of tequila before
seeing the beauty in what you so skillfully managed to capture.
Best Regards

Andrew,
I think I prefer this one. It may be slightly overexposed, but I think it has more zing than your comp entry. Have you ever tried focus stacking? It's something I have been meaning to try sometime, but just never got round to it.
Thanks guys, I appreciate your feedback
LOL it was haste Al...... I was kind of in a hurry and submitted the other one first.......
Thank you Leon, glad you liked it.
Cheers Gary, although I did have a tequila after I finished.
I agree, I like this one better too Mike.
Actually I was in such a hurry and being my first go at this sort of macro, I didn't really know what to expect or how they'd turn out.
I've been reading up on focus stacking and that will be my next attempt.
A great progie that's been recommended to me is CombineZM by Alan Hadley.
Can't wait to give it a go and see the difference in the DOF.
Cheers
Andrew
great shot RB :)
theres a few stacking proggys out there, i gave one a shot on some aphids once and it worked well... alas i lost the program :(
Thanks David, I'm hoping to find some time to get back into it again.
Have a try at some bugs and try focus stacking too.
Lucky we don't need to take darks or flats.
