Hi all, did any one see any shooting stars (if thats what they are called) over melbourne at approx 2am on wed march 5th?
I was out observing the sky when a light moved across the sky 30meters then dissapeared. Dont think it was a ufo as it didnt move like one. 2 mins later another one came from the opposite direction. I live near chadstone shopping centre.

Definitely a "ufo" - well, you didn't identify it! :D 2am - not really visible satellite time. Can you describe a bit more, please Peter. Both moved in a straight line? How quickly did they move across the sky. For how long was the light visible? When you say "30 metres" could you describe what you mean by that distance some more?
BTW, what does a "ufo" move like? Do you mean change direction?

Peter & Ash,
I'd say you seeing meteors from either Delta-Leonids, Gamma-Normids
and Eta-Aquarids which are presently active.

Hi guys, im not from around australia. I'm from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I'm not sure if it was on the 5th or 4th of march (having long days at work), but i was driving NortWest on the highway i saw a bright light falling straight down and after about 3-4 secs it vanished. No idea what i've seen here.. You think it was a meteor? It did not have a 'tail' or something, or is that common?

I was out Wed morning, and saw a few good burners, one being a very bright one, at least as bright as Sirius, which left an ion trail for about 5 seconds. Also left a nice residual image on my retina as it went through my field of vision as I was looking at M104 through my scope!

I have been informed by someone else that it was most likely one of these Normids what you saw. It should have been in the north west from Chadstone if it was the same one I saw. But I'm sure it was closer to 3:30 for me.

It would have been between 2AM-3AM. They weren't falling down from the sky. One moved from left to right then across the sky for approx 30 meters then disappeared. A few Min's later the light came back from right to left (in reverse order) from the place it disappeared and traveled for another 30 meters in the opposite direction and disappeared. (can't say if it was the same ball of light or not but it looked the same and was the same size) Did the lights anyone else saw at around the same time behave like this?

funny...that same night here in Perth probably around 9-10pm, my other half was out looking northish and said he saw this bright light sort of come forward and then go straight back and disappear immediately, not really like a shooting star type of path...we were laughing saying it must have been a UFO....seems that same night a few people saw something out of the ordinary!!! maybe we are being watched :)

I believe most shooting stars that occur with multiple events travelling in different / opposing directions are extra-terrestrial in origin.
Has anyone been able to capture them on video or still images.
I am currently trying.
I saw an Extra-terrestrial object about 12 years ago in Koolewong while camping out in my Mum's backyard. It occurred around 2:30am and what I saw was a star-like object about 1 km up directly above me. The event lasted about 2-3 minutes.
The object moved as though it was like someone moving a wand of a conductor. It then came to an dead-stop and then became brighter and brighter until it disappeared (still at a dead-stop) in a bright flas of white light.
I have spoken to a retired Australian Airforce Man who said he had seen stuff like this at Maralinga during Atomic Testing in South Australia.
He said that he was warned that he would quote "get a bullet between the ears" if he spoke about this to anyone. He told me he did not care anymore about their threats because of how his buddies were not treated well by the defence force and the Australian Government.
We are not being told the truth.
I called Richmond Airbase and they said they no longer share radar information on UFO's.

would of loved to seen that one eh!
trawling my memories, i have certainly seen meteors split/break up during travel, but only to two or 3 pieces at most ,and sometimes they go in different directions upon splitting up, or one/they just stop/fizzle, but have seen a couple travel onwards together, not a mega common occurance one would think? did see one big speccy slow one break up a lot, some 13 or 14 years ago over adelaide, but smaller broken off bits trailed behind and fizzled out pretty fast, nice tho :)
