Had my first attempt at Centaurus A last night at the end of a long night. I set out to tri-colour but only captured the red and green before the clouds rolled in so here's just the red channel.
50x15 sec exposure.
Thanks for looking.

Good question Eric - honest answer is I don't know. I did the post processing in PS with Carboni actions - I did this late last night and can't remember exactly what I did but I think I used the "lighten only DSO and dimmer stars" action.

Quite sharp showing a bit of detail.
i did a set of rgb the other day for the first time and was surprised that the red channel was sharpest....
putting it all together will be interesting to see this galaxy in colour.

Nice and sharp!
pitty about the clouds rolling in!
that always worries me if I went to RGB imaging. Sure enough those clouds would roll in as soon as you put in the last filter :(
cheers

Thanks Marc, Gary and Alchemy. I had a look at the green channel tonight and it had a lot more noise than the red. I was told imaging galaxies in mono through a red filter was the way to go although that's not what I had in mind last night.
RGB can take a long time and the Brisbane weather sure is unpredictable at the moment.
