Vixen ED115S ED APO

This scope is the current flagship in the Vixen apochromat range. Made in Japan its a superior example of an ED refractor.
The focuser is Vixen rack and pinion but don't let that put you off as its a very nice example of a r&p and far superior to those commonly seen on Chinese refractors.

Specs:

D=115mm F=890mm (f/7.7) ED Apochromatic Design
OTA Dia = 125mm Len=940mm Weight 4.4kg
Vixen 7x50 finderscope
Vixen 1.25" flip mirror diagonal supplied.
OTA has Vixen metal carry handle (attached to mount ring)

The scope is unmarked except for on the mount dovetail for obvious reasons, and on the finder scope where the mount locating screws bear against the finders tube (unavoidable).

Asking $2500 + ship (sells new for $3865 with 2x LV eyepieces)

Not to spam Geoff's thread. :)

But I thought any potential buyers may like to get another opinion on this scope. I have looked and star tested this scope (I may not be a expert star tester!) but after a few years in this hobby I have a clue or too.:)

Anyway I found this scope to star test very nicely with nice concentric rings on both side of focus. The images where sharp as they should be in this type of scope. It's not a deep sky hunter of faint Galaxy's but will show bright objects and the big planets very nicely. Under very good seeing this scope will suprise on how nice the images are. To be sure thow its not a 10" Newt.

You will buy a very nice refractor with very nice optics. A smooth focuser for a rack and pinion. Also we put this scope on a HEQ5 mount and this mount is ideal for this scope.

My thoughts anyway.:D

Thanks Dave for the comments.

With the price drop on the heq5pro, I have decided to invest and keep the scope.
