Not what you may think....no, I didn't buy myself a couple of hectares on the shores of the Sea of Tranquility or a cabin on the edge of Vallis Marinaris!

I just received some meteorite samples I bought from the UK a few weeks ago. It is a part of my upcomng birthday present! I worked out the cost and they come out at somewhere around $120,000 per ounce (gold is about $1000)...of course I didn't win lotto, they just weigh a few milligrams:lol: The Lunar one is part of NWA4483 and the Martian one from NWA4766 (they are googleable). Also pieces of Vesta and Mercury! The perfect gift for the astronomer who has everything.

So if you want to take an image of Mars from a distance of an inch or so...

I'll be over at my ma-in-law's place in East Brighton next weekend: does this mean that I'll have the chance to be parking in some sort of Moon-Martian low-orbit next Saturday night?

Have a look at Images/Solar System from about March 1 or 2! My feeble attempt at humour! The boxes are about 1 1/2" x 2" to give you an idea of scale. Sample is about 4mm. "Vesta" is about the size of you index fingernail.

Now that is cool. Time to selloff my footy card collection, and get something I can relate to!

Beware - anything over 100 microns will attact NSW state government land tax!

Cheers!
