The above link should take any one who is interested to the Hayden Planetarium web site. I have been using their download for about 2 months now and it has not hurt my computer. Not being a scientist I cannot say it is state of the art stuff but it has helped me to understand the cosmos in a much deeper way. The recent discussion on Globular Clusters made me think that some in this group might like to look at the software as it has some interesting stuff on G.C.

Worth looking, at ie; shows how the globular clusters are mainly towards the center of the galaxy while the open clusters are along the galactic plane. The only caveat I have is that this is a complex program and it does take some learning but the instruction manual is quite good.

This looks great, can't wait to try it tonight (well, after the football).

Thanks for that.

I've been meaning to install Starry night on my work pc , but I thought I'd check this out.

If you poke around there site they seem to have a lot videos to watch as well. I havent as yet watched any but there should be a couple of hours worth of entertainment there.

Thanks again.

Thanks Brian, have just downloaded the digital universe. It's a lot of fun and I think it will be a very useful tool for understanding the arrangement of things up there.
