I had my first attempt at the running man last night. Conditions were obviously not ideal with the near full moon and I hadn't appreciated how faint this object was. In fact it took me a long time to locate and frame it without the benefit of a goto mount.
The image is an RGB composite taken with the DSI II pro. 50x15 second exposures.
I have a spot of dust on the CCD (sitting on his arm) that is proving hard to remove.
Thanks for looking!
Considering your condition I think it has come up pretty well, I would have cropped it a bit less, but that is only my personal preferences, other than that nice work.

not bad for first effort. longer expo willl certainly bring out the blue around it. keep it coming :)

Thanks Leon & Eric. This is the full FOV of the DSI II with my 10" f5 so no cropping done. I'd like a wider field - have my eyes on an ED80 for Christmas (or maybe sooner).
I've just started experimenting with longer exposures on the DSI having started at 5 seconds I'm now up to 15 but without autoguiding or good polar alignment I was getting deformed stars on the longer exposures.
Opps, Peter I am sorry, I was not aware of your filed of view, I just get a bit carried away with my set up at 9 degrees, and think all others should be the same. :ashamed:
Leon

Nice running man - pretty good if this is with a near full moon - it really tends to wash things out fairly well

Thanks Dan. I was inspired by the shot you posted some time ago. Much better colour in yours.
Hi Peter, it's faint on my monitor but that may well be my settings also. Still it is a good looking image, I have yet to image this nebula myself.
Cheers

I must have the monitor brightness cranked up as I can see it clearly on mine.
