Proud new owner of 10" LB :) Few questions i'd like ask...

I've finally upgraded from my 6" GSO dob to 10" Lightbridge :D Absolutely wonderful scope, purchased it from Bintel and Mike was an absolutely champion of a guy with his help :thumbsup::)

Had no problem assembling the package, but noticed the red dot finder wasn't included in the box. Do the 10" LB come with red dot finders?

My second question is whats the best way of covering the secondary mirror ? I don't feel comfortable having it exposed in my garage as I know dust will accumilate over it.

P.S: Not too sure how people consider 10" GSO portable (for a sedan)? We tried to fit the mount into my car (WRX sedan) and there was no way in hell it was going to fit, same with 12" LB. 10" LB fits snuggly in boot of my car :)

Sounds like a very nice purchase. Can't wait to see some of your reports.
I'm not sure whether your standard Rexy is going to be considered by most of a us as a standard sedan, rather a small sports car that's called a sedan to try and get around insurance, import duties!!!!, not saying it isn't a lovely car though!

Congratulations on the new scope!!!
Mike is always a great guy to do business with.
The red dot finder is not very big, so look for it tucked away in one of the foam pieces.
Or it could be in a small box, with all that packaging you may have put it in the recycling bin!!
The secondary mirror could be covered with a material satchell with a draw string to hold it to the spider.
I've also seen a plastic jar (of suitable size) with slits cut into the sides for the spider. Then you seal the jar with the screw cap.
Weather permitting we (Macarthur Astronomical Society) will be observing out at The Oaks this coming Saturday.

congrats on the LB. i got my 10" a week ago from elsewhere (before the $200 price drop ugh!) and am very happy with it too.

the red dot finder will be in a small cardboard box. they are really hard to use though! need to be an olympic gymnast to align oneself with the scope to look though the finder ;-)

questions for you, will another generic right-angle finder scope fit in the slot?

do you think its ok to carry the assembled LB by the struts? ;)

Hi Mark, I've carried mine by the trusses without any problem.
Make sure that they're done up tight!!:thumbsup:

Just two other question I forgot to ask,

1) where is the best place to purchase a shroud for the lightbridge? I've heard it's almost a must for these scopes.

2) Is it bad if I rest the OTA base on the floor, as the primary mirror screws will be resting on the floor (unfortunately 10" model doens't come with those black stoppers)?

Unfortunately I have no choice but to rest it on the floor sometimes when actually setting the scope up :shrug:

I've rested my scope on its collimation screws many times without any ill effect.
As long as you don't twist the scope around:thumbsup:
