I've just had a peek through my PST and the view of the prom(s) is spectacular. The largest prom must be 100,000 km's plus. The atmosphere is quite steady today which makes a change, a shame there are no sun spots visible. Thanks Narayan.

Man... I wish I had a PST right about now.
The skies are clear and there are almost perfect conditions.

I popped out just after lunch and there were two lovely large proms. First look through a scope in ages, and it was during daylight.

I've given up taking pics with the PST, it's so much better watching the 'goings on' on the surface of the sun in real time, particularly over a number of hours. It's not a case of taking the scope out and having a quick look and say ooh! and ah!, that's nice! A bit like night viewing I suppose, waiting for the rare moments of a steady atmosphere and so on is worth the wait.
The PST certainly adds to the whole astronomy experience particularly with so many cloudy nights in recent times.
Cheers everybody,
Steve B

My commiserations Al, I had the same rust problem with my PST last year. It took an age to get back from the US mainly because Meade had taken over Coronado and they were moving factory. It was well worth it in the end, the PST now performs flawlessly. I can't say as much for my Solarmax40, it apparently suffers from the same rust problem only it happens in the etalon filter located in the diagonal. I'll have to go back to the US shortly but given it's much more expensive than the PST I'm somewhat worried about damage or loss in transit.
Cheers,
Steve B

umm-waiting for my camera mount from Bintel-will be here on Monday and hopefully can get some images with the PST...but the best aspect of having a PST is the ability to pop out out at a moment's notice and have a quick squiz at the sun..
clouds everywhere tonight so may not get another chance on sunday :(
