I spent the arvo helping a mate at the veteran and vintage rally. Here's a few photos. It's on again tomorrow in Oberon if anyone is interested in a day out and something different...

The tank, BTW, is one of my mate's. It's a WWII Matilda. He entered it in the tractor pull... the only vehicle to start in second gear, change to third and then fourth and continued to accelerate as the load increased:lol:. He didn't even bother to roll out the Centurion!;)

Classic, too bad it is so far away from here or the wife would love it. Is it a yearly event?

This is the first time it has been organised as a rally and the first time it's been associated with the Oberon Show. I guess the success or otherwise will determine if it becomes annual:). It all came about because of the equine influenza... no horse events at the show so what else to do? In reality that's not a bad thing (OK, it's no fun for the horsey crowd) but I think the shows need to do different things each year, or at least be bringing on "new product" to draw people in.;)

Sooty the traction engine from Wellington.
Fordson tractor with steel wheels.
And the Stanley Steam Car - beautiful! I love the horn in the design of a snake!

Thanks Kal. It was a photo just screaming for the colour splash treatment!;) I quite like the irony of having the modern day background in old fashioned sepia colours and the old fashioned vehicle in colour:), apart from the fact that the colour splash draws attention away from the background.

It's a great tool to use when the background threatens to distract the eye from the subject!;)
