Had a great session with some other IIS members last night at Samford. Here's three targets captured with the DSI. All 50x15 sec unguided.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Peter, three very nice captures for sure. The closeup of the HH is a beauty and you've caught some great detail in the Crab nebula.

Top stuff

Awesome images Peter :)

There is so much detail in all three of them.

Thanks for the comments. It was a good to have so much help on-hand, especially to find the Crab and Horse (I've got to spend some more time with my Argo Navis - had a lot of trouble locating objects).

We had six scopes with three Gstars, a Watec 120N+ and my DSI. I'm looking forward to seeing some of these targets taken with the Gstar and Watec cameras.

Matty, The second image is NGC1365.

Really nice colours in the crab and the HH is very sharp.

Thanks Dan. These targets sure were faint. It took quite a bit of stretching to drag these out of the raw images.

I'd normally focus with a hartman mask but these were just eyeballed on the laptop monitor so I was lucky with the focus.

Thanks Gary and Eric. I'm now working on getting my gear ready for some longer exposures. My mount needs a tune-up as there's quite a bit of backlash.

I'm also trying to decide what I need in terms of a guide scope. I'm torn between a cheap refractor or going for and ED80 and asking for forgiveness later.

I have a dovetail on top of my newt but haven't worked out what other bits I need to mount/aim the guidescope. This is a great hobby - there's always something new you need!!

Peter and his DSI won the night for imaging. Great results.

Here is my contribution - The Eight Burst Nebula NGC 3132 Taken with the GSTAR-EX on the 20" at f5. The footage wasn't so good, but these are the best 40 frames stacked.
