I love the caption on the box..."once in a life time"
My Nana remembered seeing it 1910 as a kid and she was still alive to see it in 1986.
But for most of us it definitely is "once in a life time!"
Hehe, haven't got the coin but do have plenty of fond memories of my brother an I (10 and 11yo) grabbing Mum's binoculars and sneaking out of the house at midnight to meet up with a few friends to do some observing 'till the wee hours, then we would sneak back to bed. The street lights used to go off at midnight back then.
Did it for weeks. Our schooling suffered!
Got an old 10-ish page newspaper lift-out article from '86 around here somewhere too.

Wow! Its good to keep all that memorabilia, my brother found an old school book in which he drew halleys comet, and also wrote about the night we saw it, i remember seeing it through some trees and it was a faint fuzzy patch......i was 7 then! lol
I've got one!
My young son found it at an antique store years ago when he was out with mum one day and asked her if they could buy it for daddy. :)
I've also got a little bottle of Scotch (50ml) commemorating the Comets return back in 85-86.
It's actually a beautiful looking piece.
Also received (birthday gift from my wife) a Wedgewood Apollo 11 commemorative plate (dated 1970).
Nice. I've got a couple of Newspaper front-pages from the '69 landing, one in colour!
Thinking about it... I wonder where they are?.......

Thats great RB! I find it funny that your son found the coin in an "antique" store, hehe, makes me feel old! The scotch bottle would be quite a handy addition! Would be a rare collectible these days!
