Partial eclipse, Wellington, NZ

Hey everyone.

This is my first post. I know the photo isn't great, but it's also my first ever eclipse photo and I was just having some fun. I followed the instructions posted elsewhere here. Thanks.

I set up my 20*80 binoculars on a tripod and lay a pale towel on a table. Then I projected an image of the sun on to the towel and positioned myself to put the sun image in my shadow. Partial solar eclipse, 7 February 2008. This was about 40 minutes in.

You can immediately see the difference in the phase to ours!! AWESOME!!
Nice way to go about capturing the moment!! This was my first solar eclipse too! Thanks for posting!!!

my fav partial eclipse, outside of the before and after of dec 2002 TSE, was the feb 1999 one, giant sun spots galore at the time, perfect seeing ect. sigh everythings better at solar max :sadeyes: bring it back now!

anyway its a sign the big daddy of ALL events, a TSE, is coming, not far removed from this part of world! exciting

I had forgotten all about using binoculars to view the image of the sun. If the clouds ever go away I will have to share this with my son. Thanks for posting!
