I went to the Adelaide Zoo a few feeks ago and took some photos. They were all taken with a Nikon 180mm ED lens on HD200 film. I'm pretty happy with the shots overall. Thanks for looking....:)

Great pics guys. Looks like they where taken in the wild, not a zoo.
Better than the old days when all there was to see in pics was the wire fences slightly out of focus in the foreground of every shot. Zoos have really improved!

Gotta love the Meerkats! :D I got some pics of them at the Melbourne Zoo whilst I was down there a few weeks ago.
Also, I like your Hippo pic! The hippo at Melbourne was a very quick runner, and all the shots I got of him were blurry!

I worked in Adalaide Zoo in 1973 when I was working my way round Australia, from all accounts its a much nicer place for the animals than when I was there. Great photo's guys .astroron

Good shots Beren and Chrissyo. The meerkats crack me up! That's actually the first time I've been to the zoo in about 10 years and it's definately a much nicer place for the animals now and much better for taking photos. I've still got a roll of film in the camera with zoo pics on it, so hopefully I'll have a few more to post when I finish it off.

The meerkats are soooo cool, so photogenic :)
Excellent shots! I love taking the family to the zoo (Taronga). We're zoo friends, so we get in for free and try to go once every 2-3 months.

Great lens you got there Jonathan, the 180 is a sweet lens. Just recently got the 24-120 VR Ed and the 80-400 VR ED lenses. Only done some test shots on the 400 the other night. and it is very sharp. So it should be for the price.
Keep them images coming. You might like to go and have a look at this site and become a member. There are plenty great artists there. The site is known as Deviant Art. Don't get any ideas from the name. It can be found by way of my link. Take a look around my gallery and then have a look at others by using the browes function at the top of the page.

Now that I have my new lens, I will have to make a visit to the zoo over the week end.
I want to see more shots taken with that lens.

Hi Paul, the 180ED is definately a handy lens to have. Good luck with your new lenses, they should be very good. Thanks for the link, I'll sign up in the near future and put a few pictures up.
Here are a few more shots that I've just had developed from my trip to the zoo, also taken with the Nikon 180ED on HD200 film.

Haha wow, that pic of the otter on its hind legs is great! Their my favourite attraction at Australia Zoo (Go Steve Erwin!). I only live about 10mins from his zoo, so I might go back in the near future to see them again. They smell like fish :)
