NGC4945 Galaxy

Hi Guys,

Took this Saturday night of NGC4945 right before the clouds came in. 10 x 5 minutes exposure at ISO 400. Had a go at this galaxy in Dec, but didnt turn out that good so ive deleted the data.

Looks great, Eric. What are the 2 bright stars in this image? (Do they have names?)

Eric, the image looks 3D, the galaxy is hanging there in space. The stars are xi1 (mag 4.8) and xi2 (mag 4.3) Cen.

By the way, how do you add the labels and surround to your images?
I haven't found an easy way of doing this.

A lovely island galaxy Eric, you have brought out some top detail and colour in this one and it all looks so sharp and clear.

Terry, i use a set of photoshop tools whereby one of them will automatically create a border around your image. I don't use any of the other actions besides the border one.

vearing of the thread eric but i was wondering on how you do your imaging through the newt , i have a 350d dslr modded but only a1.25" focuser on the 8" f/5 newt i can manage to get the dslr on prime focus with just enough intravel focus but as for filters i am yet to find a way to get them in :screwy:
at the present i have cut a 1.25" e.p barel off and use the thread to attach a 1.25" filter and then slide this in the focuser before i attach the dslr ( vignetting is awfull ):)

hey little col, ask away i don't bite :) .
first thing i would do will be to change the 1.25" focuser and get yourself a 2" focuser. a decent 2" 10:1 ratio crayford focuser will cost roughly $120. once the 2" focuser is in,

You have an awesome fast scope F5 , just need a 2" focuser.

With F5 scope, i think you will just scrape focus. i had some difficulties with focus on my 8" F/4 scope. Had to move the primary mirror slightly closer to the focuser but with your F5, it might reach it.

thanks for the info eric you have helped so much by showing them images , i can now understand were all my vignetting is coming from having reduced the light path so much:eyepop:
is that a 2" t mount you have or is it a standard t mount?
