Went over some old data from my ir sensitive toucam. Registax wouldnt process the 2000 frames, so i used Iris to do it. Its more clunky but got the job done. It originally taken the video to try and get the nightside in infrared.

Its VERY faint but the nightside is just visible, like very faint earthshine on the moon. 2000 frames at the prime focus of my 10 inch f5.6 newtonian stacked. Was taken not long before the last conjunction
No flats used hence the marks, was just an exercise to show it could be done

wow, that is faint scott. Well done on pushing the boundaries.

It might be even more visible when Venus is more of a crescent.

I know Steve Massey did some great work on imaging the night-side of Venus in IR about 2 years ago.. I remember an article in AS&T about it.

Thanks
It would be great to have acvamera that could see longer wave IR light. That would be the key to seeing actual detail on the nightside
