View Full Version here: : Eta Before The Clouds
Hi Guys,
Last night it looked like it was going to be brilliant, but alas the clouds rolled in at about 11pm. :(
While waiting for another object to be well placed for imaging, i decided to take a few of Eta Carinae, so i suppose i was pretty lucky to get anything as the last frame of this set of 9 was ruined because of the approaching clouds.
Anyway, here we have a set of 8 @ 3mins each at ISO 400, through the Tak-106 and Canon 5D on a G11, and auto guided with a Toucam, and W.O. 80mm FD.
Processed in Image Plus and slight levels adjustment in PS2, this is a un-cropped wide field, and the colour has not been altered, it just came out that red, so i left it that way.
Please comment if you so desire. ;)
Cheers Leon

An absolute stunner Leon. I love the colour and detail in this one. :eyepop:
Well done.
A lovely capture Leon, very stunning.
I was after Eta as well last night as it is in a great spot for me at the moment, but I was beaten to it by the clouds.
Cheers
Thank you guys, for your encouragement, and comments, although i have imaged Eta a number of times i feel that this one may be one of the better ones, we'll see.
Yea Ric, I know what you mean I saw them coming while i still had two exposures left, and couldn't get the last one finished before they engulfed the entire sky.

Very nice Leon  I like the color it has come out.
Maybe just frame it more to the right and you will get that other bit of neb and star cluster more in the frame..but very nicely done Leon.
cheers
Thanks Gary, yes i can see what you mean, it may look better that way, I will give it a try next time.

Thank You Peter, a plus comment from you is a compliment to me, as is from the other more experienced imagers I would love to post a bigger version Peter, but really don't know how to do that.
Leon

Leon,
Hey, no worries, I also have a Canon D5 and it spits out 4368 x 2912 images
so, as I am using independent server for my uploads, I suspect (having never tried an alternative) there must be an ISS limitation here.
That said..colours look great ;) Stars look like pin picks, good shadow detail and highlights (as best I can tell) look not to be burnt out.
This is good stuff !
Cheers
Peter
Great work Leon. A visually pleasing composition. Look forward to seeing more... How about some different objects to test that FSQ out of yours? This would have to be your x'teenth post of Eta!;)

Eric I do have a larger res shot nut I don't know how to send that, I did request some help with this in a earlier post
Thanks Doug I'm trying, and it seems to be coming together nicely, and now to find some other targets as suggested. ;)

I know exactly what you (and Jase) mean - I seem to go Tarantula,Eta,M42 over and over trying to get that "perfect" shot - or one I'm happy with at least!
We've got to spread our imaging wings leon!!;)
All the best
Doug:thumbsup:
Dead Right Doug, and that is the plan my friend, last night i had my sights and scope aimed at the Fornax Group of Galaxies, focused, guiding etc, and the camera ready, I was just waiting for it to get dark, and you guessed it the clouds got there first.
Closed up shop and went to bed. ;)
Cheers Leon
