panography... give it a whirl!

hey guys, i saw this style of composition as a tutorial on a website and took some shots 6 months ago to give it a go, and only just got round to putting it together now, just though i'd share it with ya'll and see what you think.

comments? keep in mind this is a pretty rough put together for me, but i'm liking the look

I remember seeing something similar in a magazine or newspaper or something about a guy who took a huge number of photo's of a canyon and stitched them together. Was pretty cool.

Nice work Josh. I remember a UK photographer, David Hockney introducing something similar, called “joiner photography” back in the 1980’s although I think he shifted his vantage point between exposures.

Nice effect Josh. I think it's one of those one-off things you'll try and then put aside. Not sure if there's any real use for this style of presentation, but good fun any way. :thumbsup:

i dunno.... i think it'll end up being like HDR, something i want to get good at, so i can use it for fun and give good results with.

i think there's a bit more experimenting to be done.

To me the quality of the work seems to depend greatly on the person doing the work. The vast majority of them seem to just be unfinished panoramas, while a small minority are more artistic in their presentation. A lot of the photographers are ignoring the potential geometry and form possible in the composition of the individual shots, and are left with a jumble that just don't flow together well.

I did have a book of Hockney's photography once, but goodness knows what's happened to it.
