Conditions were very average last night.

It didn't look like it would be worth going to the trouble of RGB capture and process, so I decided to just have a little fun with the trusty ol' ToUcam instead:)

It's been a while since I plugged the little silver dynamo in.

Even at 1/25 of a second exp...I really had to crank the gain using the 9.25 and 3x barlow. As others have already commented...it's getting quite dim with the rings closing up.

The image shows the effects of the seeing. I like the colours on the globe, though.

Hi Matty,
Thats a great image considering your conditions last night.Conditions up here improved a thousand fold last night so i took some more of the moon at 333X. I've posted some in solar system and put a post in cameras etc. showing how i mount my camera.
Cheers,
Duncan:thumbsup:

Hi Matt,

A great Saturn image Matt :)

The colours are awesome!

How many frames did you stack to get this image?

Have fun,
Doug

Thanks for your kind comments, guys.:)

Doug, from memory...around the 450 frames mark. That was from an AVI of 2000 frames.

Thanks Matt. I think I really need to capture longer AVIs. I usually use about the best 500 of 1000 frames.

Yes. You can definitely go longer on Saturn. It doesn't present the same rotational 'issues' of Mars and especially Jupiter...which has such fine detail by comparison, which can smear.

I only go for a couple of minutes, but some guys record for much longer than that.
