Wow, for kicks, open up the largest resolution version of that and count globular clusters.

While it is a stunning image, the resolution and jpg size does not do the original full justice. A 14.5" RCOS is almost as good as it gets for 'amateurs'.
Robert Gendler is also pretty good at processing images and that is an understatement.

All the same it shows what can be done with knowledge and dedication from the ground even by 'amateurs'.

I think a full resolution uncompressed version of this would be even more stunning! Although it would put a big dent in your monthly internet limit.

Gendler is really good in data processing, no questions :) By the way, two years ago we published an image of the same region obtained with 2.2m-telescope at ESO (forgot to say, I'm an astronomer). Feel free to have a look (and even "fly") here:
