Heads Up: HST Evening Passes

OK, it's not as speccy as the ISS, but the HST is about to enter a phase of favourable evening passes for the east coast of Aus north of Sydney... should be nearly straight overhead at Bris-Vegas! Starts tonight 21:30 here, but Qlder's get to see it earlier at 20:30!;):P

For me it is 87.3 degrees elevation at 20:36, magnitude 1.4. We'll see if the skies cooperate.

I spotted it a few times through the clouds & mozzie swarms as it made the pass, fortunately it was clear at the zenith. Thanks for the heads up!

From my location it should pass through the bright star 'Aldebaran' in Taurus.
It will be interesting to see if it does.

But worth looking at through the telescope. Right on time.

I had a clear view of the HST tonight with not too many clouds around. Didn't get the telescope out though, just the binoculars. Will try again tomorrow night and will drag my daughters out for a look.

Cool Steve. More clouds here still:rolleyes: oh, man , I must've missed several sacrifices to god of clear skies, 'cause I haven't bought anything lately!:lol:

One thing to watch for on the HST is a flare. Occasionally you can see one when the light from the sun reflects off the open objective door.:thumbsup:
