View Full Version here: : Lunar Occultation of Regulus
For folks in Brisbane and SE Queensland...this will be worth a look around 11.59pm (Queensland time) tonight:)
It's already a nice sight through my 10x50 binos.

Thanks Matt. I managed to get out last night for the 1st time in yonks but unfortunately clouds came in from the SE at the wrong moment.
I was trying out the Canon 40D on the Mewlon 180 and after seeing your post (thanks!) I fitted the DMK and just about got everything re-configured and set up for 11:55pm, grabbed an AVI and the clouds came in. The Moon was visible through the clouds but imaging was out of the question. I packed up around 1:00am as the high cloud had begun to thicken.
I hope Ron managed to see the egress, as Regulus would have looked spectacular popping out of the dark limb.
I did get to see Regulus very close to the limb through the finder scope!
Cheers

What a bummer Ron – I struggled last night too, my first outing since Nov 2007. Oh for an observatory with everything set up and calibrated!
Cheers

I missed the disappearance due to cloud but recorded the reappearance. Here is the video.
