Hello my name is colin i am 45 live in Sydney, and am very new to astronomy, I first got the bug a few years back at Dubbo and have just got a telescope for christmas
not one of the better ones as i have read on your forum. it is a tasco.and at the moment it is giving me a close look at the moon which i am enjoying.I am into camping and 4wheel driving so the telescope will be part of my gear on a few trips.I think this web site is excelent for beginers as i have learnt a few things from it.

Welcome Colin :)

I'm sure you'll be able to see the rings of Saturn at the moment with that telescope.

Welcome to IIS Colin. Don't worry about your scope, if you use it its a beauty. I have seen lots of people with amazing setups that are gathering dust in their living rooms.

Keep looking up :)

Hey Colin,

I'm very new to this as well, I made the same mistake with my first telescope but have just, 2 days ago taken delivery of a 8" Dobsonian.
Check out the two posts on buying a new telescope before comitting to anything.

Well said that man!
Welcome Colin,
I started with a Tasco scope all those years ago (16+).
It's been a thrilling ride ever since - my banker/better half might disagree:P.
Go slowly, take advise and have fun.
All the best and enjoy the views...

Tell me about it. I have two friends. One has a Meade LX200 10", the other a LX90 10". Both haven't used them in over two years! I hope me finally getting 12" Dobs will shame them out or retirement! ;)
