Celestron 12" Dobsonian

Hi To All.
I have been keen on getting a Celestron 12' now for sometime and was wondering if anybody has had one and if they would recommend getting one. Also is there much difference in 4"s if you were to decide on going for a 16" i know that the new Meades have a 2" focuser.

The Celestron 12" Dob is a good scope, but very overpriced.
Go to www.andrewscom.com.au (http://www.andrewscom.com.au) here in Sydney, they are direct importers of the Guan Sheng Dobs (Celestron source their scopes from here)
You can purchase the G.S 12" Dob for $799!!!
The Celestron costs approx $2000!! and there's no advantage in it for you.:thumbsup:
12" will give you images with a very big WOW factor.:D

I agree with John! I've got a 12" GSO newt, as have many others and they are great scopes!

And yes, the 16" allows you to see significantly fainter objects than a 12", but it's a BIG scope and even though it's a truss, it's almost LESS portable because of the HUGE base on the thing.

Yep, those GSO 12" Dobs look like a total bargain for $799. Might have to get one myself.

I have a GSO 50mm * 8 magnification finderscope and its has beautiful optics - if all GSO optics are this good I'll be very interested to see their APO they are starting to launch - re the Andrews website

Took a look at the GS's At Andrews Comms, look's like a nice Scope a big saving there and their eyepieces look good as well. Many Thanks for the help.
