Hi
Just joined this great forum. Have been into astronomy on and off for years, but 2 years ago decided to finally get a scope. Originally had a SW mak127 but replaced that a yr ago with the SW 200mm newt on eq5 with steel legs purchased from Andrews. I work at the Uni in Newcastle if anyone is interested. Anyway just thought I would say hello.
Cheers

Hehehe Striker.....dont worry we'll beat you cane toads tonight. My Missus went to school with Darren Lockyer and knows him quite well (She's from Roma) so you can imagine the tension between us when watching the big game......

Hey dooly! Another from the newcastle area, great to see! I'm an ex-newcastle uni student :) Are you a member of the NAS?
You should also plan to come down to our central coast observing sessions, we have them around new moon weekend each month and it's a great growing gathering, and we always have fun. The next one is this weekend, though the weather is conspiring against us!
How did you hear about the site?

Hi Iceman
Heard about the forum via the astronomy online forum. This place is what us Aussie's need......very well done. No I am not a member of NAS.....will look into for sure as I am just starting to ramp up my interest. Would love to come to the star parties but that surface low that is due to form across the weekend doesnt look good.........lucky I'm a mad surfer as well. When did you graduate from Newcastle Uni. I studied Civil Engineering and graduated in 94. Working in IT now still in Civil though at the UNI.......though with all the job losses I dont know for how much longer.....
Cheers

Hey Dools.
The NAS have their meetings at the uni.. I'm not a member at this stage, I'm currently a member of NSAS but don't really have time to attend meetings or observing nights. At this stage, would rather spend new moon weekend with mates from the forum at the central coast sessions. But yeh this weekend isn't looking good so far :(
I graduated from B.Comp.Sci in 1996.

Hi Josh,
We are also new and Novacastrian(ish) - being at Belmont. I am currently on maternity leave from the Uni - due back next Feb (if there is a job to go back to!).
Graduated from there in 97 with B.A. Communication Studies - far less technical than you guys!
