"I pledge devotion to the stars of the majestic Milky Way Galaxy
and to a dark night sky in which they shine; one cosmos, overhead,
clearly visible, with liberty from light, and dark skies for all."

— Jack Troeger, Dark Sky Initiative.

i have been a member of this "congregation" forever! Well said Jack!

my connection with the Cosmos thru' astronomy and meditation
has given me a view that so few can even contemplate. When i look
back at all the choices i've made, from this "Cosmic View". i can
truly say that time & time again they have proven to be in tune
with nature. So far ahead of pace with current ways that sometimes
i can only surmise that this world is a "Tragic Comedy", and just laugh it off.

The 1st thing i'll do after building a new observatory down south is to put Jack Troeger's Pledge by it's front door.

Every Day is a Bonus Day!

I understand where you are coming from and where Jack is coming from as I am there also.

The galactic center passes directly over me and there are times when instead of a conscieousness that has me standing on a flat planet I stand on a sphere we call Earth at that point I am aligned with everything ..I am in space.. I leave this place to a greater consciousness that makes me aware of my insignifficance and importance all at once..somehow the trivial pursuits of me and other humans has a perspective that I can only call total peace.
I become satisfied that all just "is"

If I can not get out to space (as is the case now) I feel like an animal in a closed in box craving my freedom.

That is a cruel reminder of my box Rob:lol::lol::lol:
I need my open spaces ..the bush did it for me once but now I demand wider boundaries.
Tell me have you had any rain;)... on the hill it is permanent..there is a local monsoon condition going on up there..really weird..the clouds come at me thru the trees..

It been patchy, and today for the first time we have patches of sun. The
yard has started to dry out. Last week the mower was getting bogged down
in the mud that seeps up through the grass, still it needed a cut as I haven't
been able to get on it for weeks. But I think now we're past swamp stage :D
if it doesn't rain anyway. Poor kids have been inside for most of the holidays

i've thought it very strange when people talk of building space craft
(in one sense) , to explore outerspace..... BECAUSE WE ARE ALLREADY
ON A SPACE CRAFT ZOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMING THRU' SPACE!

Let's all take good care of our "MOTHER-SHIP".

peace out, Lance, aka "abellhunter"

Hey Rob do you wantta go halves in a goat:lol::lol::lol:?

Lance yes I agree but we still need to get the battle star program started so we can truely rule all of it...

Or like Timothy Leary proposed we get a small planet and hollow it out..and kick it out of orbit and move to the next solar system :eyepop:...

You dont really believe he was into the acid I hope as so many folk discount his wisdom on the basis his brain was pickled:P.

But he is out there waiting for the rest of us...pity he is dead however:D

LOL nope!

already have a mower and if I get lazy  the neighbour loves riding his ride
on, and if I get desperate I just let the horse into the yard
The problem with goats is they're walking land clearing devices :scared:

If I had known that we could get something like this going so quickly I would have gone in on a three way cut (no pun intended), I have just spent four nights at my dark site and resorted to drinking beer whilst watching for the occasional watery glimpse of the moon.
