Southern Cross and Carina - widefield

Hi guys,

This is my first post on this amazing forum. Recently I took a series of images of the Southern Sky and would like to share them with you. At the moment I have very basic setup consisting of Kenko Skymemo portable mount and Canon 400D (Hutech modified camera).

Thanks ! That's right, the place is quite dark - ESO Paranal observatory in Atacama desert (Chile)

Lovely image Antu!

The colours are beautiful, especially the golden colour of Gacrux :thumbsup:

It is images like this that explain why the Milky Way looks like a white band. All those stars!!!!!!

Yes, that is nice Antu! Beautifully framed. Look at all those little dust clouds. And those faint stars in front of or punching through the Coalsack. :thumbsup:

Lovely image.
It is interesting to compare this image with Akira Fuji's image (http://www.davidmalin.com/fujii/source/af1-04_72.html) of the same area.
I think he defocusses at some point to deliberately enlarge the very bright stars to make them stand out more.

Made me look back at my 50mm shot with my 300D! in late 2005?
Even framed the same way..lol but different color balance
Very nice and hope to see more lovely shots!

Antu I love this part of the sky and that is a brilliant shot. I love the colors and the way the Southern Cross is showing up against the background. I am green with envy too...
