Canis Major

I'd like to show you some pictures of our new dog, "Major".
We originally were looking at getting a Labrador or a Staffie, but Gregs brother turned up on Sunday and presented us with this one.
He is the last of a litter, the rest starved to death. Major himself was a walking skeleton when Jimmy picked him up.:( He's about 4 1/2 months old I think.
The kids love him.
He's a quick learner too. The kids taught him to "Sit" and "Lie Down". And would have taught him more, but we told them to just practice these 2 commands for now. Next week he can learn more.
Breed wise I'd say he's German Shepherd + Red Cattle Dog crossed with a big brown dog, possibly a Ridgeback or Wingeing Pirhana.
If anyone has further suggestions as to breed, let me know.
Not what I'd personally get for a family dog, but if he trains well and is very obedient, he has a home here.
The cat is not impressed, she is teaching him not to come into the house.:lol:

Good stuff Jeanette. Nice choice of name too BTW.;) I thought if I was going to name a dog it'd be along a black hole theme... then his food bowl could be the accretion disc...:lol:.

Do you have a lot of space for exercise? Hopefully there's not too much red cattle dog in him - unless you've got plenty of space to occupy and exercise him;).

Greg walks both dogs twice a day. Plus the kids take him with them just about everywhere.
We're on acreage so there's tons of room.
Yes, exercise and training are very important for doggies.

Nice puppy JJJ, what a shame about the others though, I'm sure he will love you all forever in gratitude of his rescue.
