View Full Version here: : Second DSI RGB attempt

I had another go at RGB imaging with the DSI last night in between the clouds as I was keen to see how the Meade filters compared to the Baader ones. This time Eta Carina was visible from my vantage point for about an hour.

As usual I was in a rush so didn't spend time refining the polar alignment and I've therefore kept to short exposures (50x5.6sec for each colour) and had to stretch the image a lot to bring out any detail.

I also managed to rotate the camera while changing filters so there's a bit of rotation between the RGB images that I haven't worked out how to fix. If this can be done without photoshop I'd love to know how.

In any case here it is... comments welcomed.

A nice capture for your second RGB, well done.

Did you combine Lum data as well or just the RGB data?

Cheers

Thanks Ric. This is just RGB. I don't think I have software that can cope with L or if I do I don't know how to use it.

I'm using Astra Image 3 pro to do the RGB combine, curves and levels. I also had a play with the adaptive filter which took out some graininess.

I've also experimented with Gimp but find it quite confusing to use layers. I'm contemplating Photoshop Elements as I can't justify CS3 (yet).

hi Peter,
nice result, despite the filter rotation issue.
