12th Januaray 2008 went to the beach and spotted this amazing 'sundog' only I didn't have a panoramic camera to capture the whole thing.
Showing the parhelia, or mock suns with the 22º halo.

:)Thank you all for the nice comments.
Thanks for the images David they're great.

I have tried to stitch two pics, but this is the first time I've tried this and didn't plan it ahead so not too good. I used the Power Point 2007 program to stitch. This gives a fair idea of what the sky looked like. Was a very interesting sight and lasted a fair while till the clouds covered the area a little more, I'd say a good hour. The other times I've been lucky and viewed a 'sundog' it only lasted a few minutes and was gone.

appreciate you doing that Venus, it gives a greater sense of the wider view - of course the parhelia would of been at same altitudes if not for small time gap between shots, but as you say, cant easily plan for stuff like that! nicely done on spur of the moment!
cheers

Top shots there. I think I saw that in the sky here the other day too, looks great with the beach in the background (foreground actually as the sundogs are further away)
