Hi Guys,

Here's the Christmas Tree cluster also known as Cone Nebula NGC2264. Have to admit, this is one impossible object to image. Many frustrating nights and processing still couldnt get enough h-alpha from an modded cam! This is my fourth go at it with the previous 3 times i ended up deleting the data. Had 7 minute exposures also.

Anyway this one is 10 x 5 minutes at ISO400. Lovely object but heck to get enough details of it.

good morning eric, nice to see you hard at it again, tough object that one, i looked at it and decided to pass, getting that Ha data on a reasonably faint object .... big job.

Hi Eric,

it is tough, but it has turned nicely - 50 minutes only, and that much of the nebula.
let me encourage you to add some more hours...

Great image Eric, you've done very well with it.

I've tried once with this DSO and didn't even come close to yours but I will try again though.

Cheers

Mind blowing Eric!

Is there any object too technically challenging for you?

It amazes me that you capture this stuff from a suburban site.

Hi Eric, your moded camera seems to be doing fine with the h-alpha !

A nice shot !

Yes very nice, particularily the blueish nebula coming through as well.
Ive yet been unable to attempt imaging this with the 10 inch as the clear night we had on Friday night last, a strong noreaster was blowing and the only part of the yard that can see that part of the sky is the eastern side, it was far too windy. Hopefully next time, though its a candidate for the 300mm lens or 6 inch scope :)

Tried this one ourselves a couple of weeks ago but too faint for our equipment. Good job Eric considering its difficulty
