Looks like a couple of favourable ISS passes for the NSW (Newcastle - Sydney - Wollongong) area on Monday and Wednesday nights... actually Monday might be OK too for Victoria and southern parts of the the real NSW;).

Tell me about it, Mike! We've been having a lot of cloudy weather lately, as a lot of people have, but I can't believe the clear days we've had that have clouded over as the sun goes down. I had to go an buy a second counterweight for my scope, to help me cope with the weather! (and so I can piggy back my camera;)). I managed to get the scope out the other night for a very ordinary evening though (desperation was setting in!).

hah wow, i was looking south west, and all of a sudden saw a MASSIVE flare, i watched in amazement, it was at least magnitude -8
too bad it was just a jetliner catching the sun :D
then came the ISS, i could watch it from horizon to horizon as it passed direct over NZ

Ah, cool! You got today's pass I presume? I noticed it was good for NZ but not for us! I'm hoping for a clear night tomorrow.

Not looking good for me, of course. Going to have to wait another 2 weeks :(

Just saw the ISS here in Adelaide. It was as bright as predicted (-1.9). Was spoiled a bit as it had an extremely close encounter with Mars before entering Earth's shadow.
