I won't be imaging tonight!

About 20 minutes after taking the thin Moon Crescent Avi, the wind changed from a northerly to a South-Westerly, blowing all the bushfire smoke our way!!!!! The air is like a thick fog, and stinks!!

The fire is about 20 minutes away to the South-East and doesn't pose any immediate threat, yet, but I'll be up all night and tomorrow watching out for ember attack!

I can't go help fight the fire as I still have 1 night of training left with CFA before I am allowed to turn-out.

But I'll hang in here and keep an eye on my house

Hang in there, Ken. I hear on the radio this morning that conditions in Victoria weren't too good. Best of luck mate!

Bushfire season, a nasty time of year. We attended a meeting last night and they commented that CSIRO scientists have expressed concern that with rising global temps we'll get superfires that are simply not extinguishable by conventional means.

Feel for you Ken, Lots of sleepless nights here in the last few years. Photo attached is the fires in 2003 and 2006 about 1/2 KM from my place.

Hi Ken, hope all goes well down there today. I been following this one on the CFA site.

Let's hope the temps drop and the wind turns it back on itself.

We've got 36ºc and NW winds ourselves today, rather nasty as well.

Cheers

So what are you trying to say Ken.
No club meet tonight?????

I was just about to leave work & pack my gear to head up. Have been watching the clouds all day & now the damn smoke moves in.

So far, so good, Bryan, but I don't know what will happen over the next few hours
The forecast was for a thunderstorm and the smoke is supposed to head our way. It's a waiting game to see what happens.

Hi Ken, Hope all's well in the Snake Valley area. As a new member/beginner here I had been talking to Bryan and hoping to get up there tonight to meet a few of you, be inspired and learn a lot. Maybe next time, with any luck Melbourne will have cooled down, no threat of fires and clear skies!

Cheers, Caroline

Hi Caroline.

Yep, all is well here. We had a great night last night. Mind you, Bryan slept through most of it

Sorry I missed out, Ken. Another great night at Snake Valley it seems! I was somewhere in the sky above the equator (in an aeroplane!) - for far too long I can tell you.
