Comet Tempel may give us a reasonable show if this info is indicative!

Houghy,

Duh! I know we won't see it like that!

But if these pics show what happens when matter is expelled from the surface we may see a slight increase in brilliance.

Be good if we could see it like that though!!! Anyone got a 10m reflector in their shed? Tony?

Nice find BD. The sites I've been following hadnt mentioned any recent jets. Hopefully the impactor will produce something.

I like the new avatar by the way, but wheres Woodstock?

ok so I made a little mistake!!

Object Name: 9P/Tempel 1
Object Description: Comet
Distance: The Comet was approximately 0.8AU (120 million km, 74 million miles) from Earth and approximately 1.5AU (224 million km, 139 million miles) from the Sun at the time of these exposures
Dimensions: The comet's nucleus is approximately 5-6 km (3-4 mi) in diameter. It is not resolved in the HST images.

BUT THE MOON AND PLEADES WILL BE GREAT

its easy done houghy - i wasnt trying to a smarty pants :) I made a mistake with the map i made for John the other night - it was in fact for the following night midnight - not that it made much difference. I am going to have to nitpick and be pedantic again!!, the scene with M45 and the moon is for sunday morning - should be very nice scene :) heres a pic of the scene monday evening (4th/july) this could be nice too! EDIT:might not be dark enough - maybe binos/scope might be good?
regards
Kearn
btw just got a copy of S&S this morning - congrats on the very hot pic of the moon!

Great find Slice!

Fills me with hope of something good to see on the 4th.

I turned the fan on to blow woodstock out but he just sat there and used it as a hairdryer.

Thats only from the camera, telescope setup on Deep Impact. The probe has a camera fitted with a telescope also but with 4 times the resolution to take images of the impact.
Only problem is the probes camera is out of focus...reminds me of Hubble...
