Took a little drive to Bribie Island the other day.

The low pressure system which has sat off the Queensland coast was still making its journey south.

It wasn't raining (much) at this stage, but it certainly was producing some dramatic skies.:)

This pic was taken with my trusty (4MP) Sony Cybershot (DSC-P73).

well I suppose if you have to then cloud shots are OK when you have nothing else to image LOL. Matt since you have been in QLD has the weather been the best or similar to what you left??? (cloud wise not temp)

Hi Dave.

Yeah...you don't often see me in the Terrestrial Photography forum.

Tiz most definitely a sign of the times.

To be honest, I think the weather (astronomically speaking) has actually been worse.:(

It's probably just an extreme case, this year. I know from speaking with guys like Dennis and (Gargoyle) Steve, it's been a fairly ordinary 4-6 months here in Queensland.

I've only been here about that long, so perhaps it's not fair to judge it based on having been here when the so-called 'Sunshine State' has been a little off its game.

The other thing is that late autumn and summer are not the best times for imaging/general astronomy in Queensland anyway. It's the wet time of year and there's also nothing but an endless procession of low pressure systems. Not good for astro, generally speaking.

Things should start to pick up in a couple of months...hopefully:prey:

Just gotta get that shift to high pressure systems dominating.

At least it's either warm or very mild....all the time!:D

Looks pretty bad conditions out their Matt on the old sea front. Nice shot.

Matt waite till winter comes. Clear 5 to 6 nights out of the week. If last year was anything to go by.

I am suprised at the amount of clouds here at the moment. Went out on Sat night to collimate the scope only to get the stars bleached out with the rising moon.:mad2:

But i am sure we will be back to sunshine state pretty soon.

I'm counting the days, Ian.

Jupiter will be riding high in the sky (80+ degrees here in Bris)...I'll be fully up and running with the new RGB imaging rig...and ol' Matty will be a happy chappy!!!

It'll be nice to start seeing some high pressure systems again and hopefully we'll get a few good months to make up for what's been a fairly trying spring/summer.

At least we're getting some rain, though.
