I took these images last night with an unmodified 350d from my backyard.

Image was taken using an C8 SCT. Autoguided using PHD and an 80mm achro + webcam. I used a 1.25" UHC-S filter to reduce light pollution. It certainly works but I tend to get a lot of vignetting around the edges with the 1.25" adaptor. (Thinking of buying a 2" LPR filter, but not sure which one...)

M42 - 17 x 2min subs and then stacked in DSS. Post processing in PS.

NGC3372 - 10 x 2min subs and then stacked in DSS. Post processing in PS.

Any comments or advice is welcome.

nice one ian esp M42. i think you've clipped alot of the background with ETA hence you will loose alot of data that way.

Great looking images Ian, you've captured some lovely depth in M42.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments Eric - I have tried a reprocess of ETA using a similar processing sequence to M42. I think it is better but I could do with some more data.

Thanks Rick - I think that I had collected enough data with M42 to get a good image. Not so sure with ETA. I think I could use some more data (and better processing).

Thanks Leon - I was very happy with M42. I think that it is my best ever.
