I swear, I didn't buy that much astro gear.
Now they say we may have a Cyclone forming off the coast.
Happy New Year.

I looked at that about 5:30 tonight Jeanette and I couldn't believe it.
I kept swapping the view across from IR to Visual and back again - no good, the clouds were just as solid when viewed in either mode.

Bugger!

Even the water vapour image shows us clouded in for the next several days. WA is starting to look fairly attractive...

I dont think you would like the 40 degree heat they are having, with bushfires to boot:(

I was going to do some camping at a place called Stanage Bay for a couple of weeks. Guess where it may form? Just north of there :windy: The news also said it may track South. The only thing South of where it is, is Rocky. Great 2 1/2 weeks of holidays left. Can't go camping and I may have to do some cleaning up after a Cyclone

Heard on the news that it was forming off Rocky, then moving south. The BoM said that it would most likely affect Fraser Is.
Mackay had its wettest Christmas for 51 years....

Blimey, it's not hard to see which state got the most astro presents.

Cheers

It hasn't been any better over the border either.... just hope it comes good
and the entire winter next year will be perfect.

Been great for the garden though, haven't really had to water it for a few
months.

The truly frightening part is that this is all pretty much normal for this time of year, according to the Weather Bureau stats.

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/tables/cw_040223.shtml

As you can see, Brisbane is meant to only average about 4 clear days per month for Jan and Feb. Around 6 for Dec.

I'm not sure we enjoyed even 6 clear days this month...but it's certainly not a good time of year for astro pursuits.

Looks like it should improve noticeably from late Autumn and through Winter.

So much for 'beautiful one day...perfect the next'!;)

Don't give up yet Matt, you've seen the Bad now wait until you get a serving of the Good!

(I'll be in touch soon, we'll see if we can organise that observing night as soon as we get a clear and half-dark sky sometime in the near future!)

I'm jealous, send some down here, it's as dry as, we have had some summer rain, but after the dryest November on record it didn't really help. Obviously there needs to be a lot more astro gear bought down here....:tasdevil:

hey is the river flowing at Duckadang? I really want to see the river flowing in that area, and fill the dams there, you know those big ones that are supposed to have water in them

Take back that new mount and scope. The weather has to be shifted.

My apologies, all you Qld IISers....

I'm currently on hols at Toogoom and I'm beginning to think I'm an apprentice rain god (I obviously only do clouds at the moment). It doesn't seem to make any difference where I go... I haven't seen clear skies for months! Canada... at home... here...

If this keeps up I'll have to get a job with McKenna's All Weather Haulage!

Well guys I don't want to up set anyone, but have so many clear nights around here that we get sick of them as they keep making us so tired being up most of the night.

I do feel for you though, truly, I know what it is like up there as I have 6 siblings that live there ;)
