My First Saturn! 23/12/07

This is my very first image of Saturn by just holding a camera above the Eyepiece. I just ran the AVI through Registax and hoped for the best :whistle:. I am quite amazed how well the image came out. Saturn was rather low so seeing was less than ideal.

I am currently waiting for my new camera to arrive, hopefully soon. :doh:

Matt, have a look at Mike's (Iceman) first saturn and you will feel very happy with your efforts.

Get out there as much as possible, have a crack at Jupiter next year and come join the hottest party in Town..........thats right, the planetary imagers party. We will rock all year until those boring old DSO's guys tell us to turn the music down!

I didn't realise how much fun Planetary Imaging could be until I attempted to image Saturn. It is amazing what a total newbie like me can achieve from just holding a camera above an EP with no experience at all. I can only say “I’m hooked!". :lol:

With the DMK/DBK your results will improve immediately.

I have no clue! Maybe the Astronomy Gods had a day off.

It actually rained all day and stopped just before I set up the scope, Weird. The clouds cleared up at around midnight and Saturn rose above the roof so I was a very happy camper.



Thanks Mike, I ordered the DMK and it should be arriving very soon. I'm sure I will be asking some questions when the camera arrives. :whistle:

I messed around with the image and tried to increase the contrast a bit. I'm not sure if it helped? Here it is...
