Just thought I would say G'day as I have just joined the site.

My name is Tony, was quite active years ago until Ham radio and scuba diving started taking all my time.

Now, as health issues have reduced my diving somewhat and radio hold few new challanges, I have been stung by the space bug again. I have an 8" dob due next week, picked up a very good eye piece from a buddy who has given up having moved to Sydney (no such thing as dark sky), anyway got a Hyperion 8-24mm for $50:).

I have a great library and have been catching up on a lot of forgotten stuff with the help of Stellarium and living in Canberra have access to some dark sky, once the weather breaks and the cloudless night return.

I will be looking for a half decent eq-mount as being an ex pro-photographer, I have to be able to track to take images. Any one got one for sale at the right price?

Other interests include sports cars, I'm on my third hot WRX and Bow hunting. Ny son and love those bright stary nights after a days hunting.

BTW: I listen to a great pod cast "Astromony Cast", I have lsitend to all 64 episodes and together with "Huntcast" and "Blast the right" are highly recommended.

Anyway, I'll pop in from time to time.

Takecare all.

Welcome to a fellow newbie. I only joined this site myself, just recently. I think you'll find them all a friendly bunch. With that incoming gear, you could be expecting more cloudy weather. Lol.

Have a good one.

Hi and :welcome: to IceInSpace! I'd recommend trying to get away from the city lights as often as possible - especially around new moon. There's some clubs and societies nearby and also up on the central coast we get together each new moon (or thereabouts) as well.

Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to IIS Tony, hope you have a great time with us, don't know much about those WRX's but I've got a SLR 5000 tucked away in the garage. That's showing my age isn't it.

Cheers
