Hi everybody here in Binocular land. I need a little bit of info on these two pairs of binoculars that I just picked up from my local pawnshop.

What I basically did was buy both pairs to test and see which ones would be best to keep, ( I know the pawnshop owner very well and he is going to let me return the pair that I am not keeping).

Pair #1 are magnicons and that's the only info that is written on them . From measuring the objectives and eyelenses they appear to be 11X50's by my millimeter ruler, (4.5mm exit pupil).
The objectives appear to have that yellowish coating also and the eyelenses appear to have a "bluish" coating.
They do not have Bak-4 prisms as the light cone is slightly cut off into a diamond shape too. Looking through these in the daytime , they appeared to have a very wide angle for being 11X50's , and abberations near the edge were not bad at all. These are used but in excellent condition and are on sale for $25.00 canadian.

Pair #2 are Celestron 8-24X50 Pros.
They are the "Zoom" type and have multi-coatings on the objectives and eyelenses.
looking through them in the daytime was fine without any major abberations with the zoom on or off.
These are brand new and are selling at $75.00 canadian.

Any thoughts or interesting information will be of a great help. I plan on testing both pairs on the night sky tonight if the weather permits. Here are a couple of pics of both pairs of binoculars...Thanks !!!

Doesn't matter what the specs are just look through them and pick which is the best. If the optics on the Celestrons are equal then they will probably be the best because at 8x50 will be a lot easier to hold steadily than 11x80 and will give a nice wide field view.

I guess I forgot to mention that the celestron "zoom" binoculars had a smaller field of view then the Magnicons, and by the way the Magnicons were 11X50, not 11x80.
You are correct though by saying that it doesn't really matter about the specs.
The ultimate thing would be in the testing of them.
The celestrons are easier to hold at 8X but as soon as you "zoom" with them , the wiggle factor kicks in majorly.
I just came inside the house from looking down the street with them and looking at some telephone poles showed that they were "bending" 3/4 of the way out in the Magnicons.
Those abberations were also evident in the Celestrons , but to a lesser degree because of their "narrower" FOV.
Ill give the testing a go at night in the skies above, and then the real answers will come out then.
