I am happy to announce that registrations for the Second Trans-Tasman Symposium on Occultations (2TTSO) are now open.

The 2TTSO is being held in conjunction with NACAA XXIII at Easter 2008 and registration for the 2TTSO can be made using the same process as that for NACAA. Details can be found at ...

Thank you to the committee of NACAA for removing the burden of registration and a host of other details from the 2TTSO committee that would otherwise have been overwhelming.

The program for the 2TTSO is still being developed and indeed we are accepting applications for contributions to the Symposium content up to the 10th January 2008. See ...

However is is very apparent that the preliminary programme for NACAA (http://www.nacaa.org.au/nacaa2008/programme) is jam packed with an exciting mix of speakers, workshops, round-table sessions and symposia. This of course means a chock-a-block astronomy weekend and anyone considering attending the 2TTSO is encouraged to take advantage of the whole NACAA experience.

The 2TTSO will commence Sunday afternoon (23rd) and will continue on Monday (24th) 8am to 5pm. If you are already planning to register for NACAA, then the 2TTSO will cost AU$65. However, if you wish to register for the 2TTSO only, then you must at least register to attend NACAA for
a 1/2 day, Sunday. This is to cover costs for room hire and catering for the Sunday afternoon.

We have a full program of topics planned for the Sunday afternoon and Monday morning as well as a
1/2 day tutorial on Monday afternoon where attendees can bring along their laptop will receive a
workbook and a DVD containing software and actual occultation video files. You will be walked
through the processes of audio and video analysis of real occultation recordings. Each topic will
be lead by a proficient observer and there will be a team of helpers to aid anyone who may get
stuck on an activity.

If you only wish to attend the symposium you have to at least register for a 1/2 day attendance of
NACAA as well as the Symposium. However I'd recommend attending the whole NACAA weekend as the
program is chock-a-block full of astronomy.
