Was a funny night last night.. the jetstream has finally gone for now, but the clouds are here instead. It was clear just after sunset and I set the scope and platform up in-between getting the kids ready for bed. I knew the GRS was rising just after 6pm.

As I was getting everything aligned, I saw a big bank of clouds coming in from the East so I hurriedly shoved the ToUcam into the 2.4x barlow, quickly achieved finger focus and started capturing right away. I just got 90 seconds of avi in before the clouds came.

In breaks in the cloud, I tried achieving better focus by hooking up the motorised focuser but in my hurry, bumped the scope off course and had to wait for the next break in the clouds to align it again. Got focus right, everything ready, then there was clouds.

I went back down 10 minutes later to check the situation, and lucky I did because it was just starting to spit all over the laptop and scope.. so quickly pulled it down and packed it away.

So quite a frustrating night, 5-6/10 seeing, no jetstream, but only time for one avi with the roughest focus.

10fps, a mix of processing attempts here with varying number of frames stacked, some rotated, some processed in astraimage.

Appreciate your comments.

They are great Mike, you are starting to sound a little frustrated. The far right image on the second row appears the best one, some good details present.

Just one night of good seeing and no clouds are all you need, then you can show us all what the tracking can do!

Thanks guys, yeh i'm a bit annoyed that since I've got the platform there's either been jetstream or rain! Oh well, all in good time I suppose.

Nice shots Mike,
Welcome to my world. The cloud/rain dodge is a constant fact of life down here in the Manawatu. However last night wasn't too bad. The ratio of clouds to clear sky favoured the later... I took a couple of pics and may post later.
Cheers

Mike,

Lovely images, that EQ platform looks to be a goer for planetary imaging. Have you tried dso's yet?

Keep up the great imaging
