Hi all
I’m interested in going for an all night star gaze but I haven’t done much star gazing for the last few months due to other commitments. What are some tips etc to make an all night star gaze a great one.
Thanks ;)

Skies without clouds, only have had one clear night in the last lunar phase!!
Dark/clear skies, maps, pre-planning, lots of coffee, someone to go with and a sense of adventure :)

Dew shield & dew heaters and enough power to run them. You won't go past 10pm without them esp after all these rain the air is sooo.. humid.

Depends where you are, can't remember the last time I saw dew! If he's inland WA, probably be the same.

I'd advise a couple of early nights in advance. I tend to last longer with some extra deposits in the sleep bank. Also, a nap in the afternoon of the big night can help.

An observing plan would definitely help, otherwise you might just hop from target to target and get bored after a while trying to find something to look at.
Over the course of a night you can get a large range of the sky in, so give yourself a plan for each hour of the night.
