After thunderstorms and rain all week, it may be clear tonight..

Still forecast for storms this afternoon, but after they clear away it might clear up overnight.. the forecast for tomorrow morning is clear so it's giving me hope!

Having huge withdrawals with this weather! Predictions aren't good for the next 5+ days either!

Good luck Mike, hope you have clear skies for a week, seeing the Moon has nearly racked off.

Yes. Good luck, Mike.

We're supposed to get a couple of OK nights this weekend, but then that cloud mass moving across the country should arrive by Monday.

I hope you get some great images. Mars is cherry ripe!:)

Good luck Mike, I not sure what it's doing down here. Half the sky is clear and there are storm clouds filling the other half.

I think the clouds might win.

Have a good night :)

Not looking promising.

It is a frustrating hobby we have chosen to say the least.

Hi All

I'm almost on the verge of buying a scope, so I'm sure I'll keep the rain flowing in Brisbane over the next few weeks...

Though, saying that, It looks like its clearing here in New Farm

Is it worth setting up sky is clear, but clouds in the west, but they seem to be moving south west. It would mean first light finally for my G-11 and Borgs.

Regards.

Oh, well, that's all right then!;):P

The clouds are coming from the NE here which means your sending them my way, Mike! ...but since you seem to have plenty, that blows any conspiracy theory out of the water... Must be just overflow...

It's clearing here in Brisbane. Although there's a fair amount of breeze and the star twinkle is pretty bad.

Might set up and see what the night brings.:)

Of course its clearing here. I have all my gear packed away for the big move next week so I cant set up :(

The sucker holes are big enough here to warrant setting up.
Hope I don't fall asleep in the mean time.

grr it's coming over cloudy again, and I only had another 5 minutes of drift aligning to go... You know how finnicky I am with drift aligning ;)

From looking at the various JS maps...it looks like tomorrow night, through to Sunday night could be quite good here in SE Queensland.

We just need the cloud to stay away:rolleyes:

I might be lucky, still a stiff breeze so it might blow them away.

Just been out for a look, will I or won't I set up. Have to give it some more thought. Big cloudbank moving SE, but don't want to attract it this way.
Nothing to the West, but clear to the east and southeast, unfortunately that is where the brightest street light in coota resides. Think my next purchase is gonna be a silenced .22 ;)

Well it's almost 10pm, i'm drift aligned, guiding is working, and i've just released my first 5 minute exposure on the horse/flame.

With an unmodded camera I don't know how much i'll get, especially since it's not really very dark yet and orion is only 20deg above the horizon.

Oh and great, as I was typing a cloud came over and PHD guiding started beeping at me :( ah well it's going to be a frustrating night.

Trying to drift-align the new Tak through sink holes. JEEZ this is frustrating! :mad2:

It sure is! The 5 minute exposure was mostly bright red thanks to light pollution and ISO1600 and clouds :)

Just 1 clear night! I'm so over this rain.

Though the grass i'm on is nice and green from all the rain :) Needs a mow already :)

half unpacked then repacked darn em clouds.

I've had a few exposures ruined due to clouds, but was able to get some 3 and 5 minute shots in. Man that horsehead is faint with an unmodded camera.

Blanket clouds now, time to pack it away while i'm taking darks :(

iceman

hmm just about finished packing away and it's starting to clear again. Too risky to set up again, and too tired.

did you get a horsey????

bloody awesome if you have!

iceman
07-12-2007, 06:28 AM
I can see some faint noisy stables in the raw data, so I'm sure there's a horsey hiding in there somewhere.. :P

11:30pm and I gave it away. I'd just about have if d/aligned in azimuth and I'd lose sight of the target for 10 or 15 minutes and have to try another - which would suffer the same fate.

I have to say though, I'm really enjoying the moisture levels - it's been way too dry for too long. Damn mozzies are back though...... :(

Well I bit the bullet and set up. Was still reasonably clear to the East when I went to bed at 3am, but total cloud cover by 9am. Still trying to get this drift alignment right, only able to get 3sec exposures of Orion before it trails. Oh well, try again next clear night.
