Hi Guys,

I don't know what the weather was like else where, but last night in Ballarat it turned out perfect.;)

I gave the Canon 300mm F/2.8 a bit of a flogging and nearly saw the Sun rise, long night, will process some of the images later and see if they are worth posting.

Cheers Leon

Lucky you-know-what!
After I set up, the clouds drop by to take a look at my scope!!!
They stick around for the night, but when I get up in the morning they're always gone!
Is it me!?

Yep, you are spot-on Leon!!!!

It was so good that Cheryl even joined me outside to learn a bit about the sky!!!

It was about 1am, absolutely clear as glass, dead calm, meteor shower, Mars shining extremely bright (same magnitude as Sirius), etc etc. Even saw a very nice fireball! About the same brightness and colour as Mars and shot about half way across the sky

It was so beautiful I didn't even bother setting up. It is one of those rare occasions where I did naked eye astronomy!

Cheryl seemed to enjoy learning little bits of information about Pliaedes, Orion costellation, and meteors.

It shows how great the sky was. Normally she isn't all that interested unless it's something like comet McNaught, but she was fascinated by the sky last night!

It was so clear it felt like you could reach out and touch the stars! and it was nice for a change to: 1. observe naked eye, 2. Share it with her.

Doug, we have those pesky clouds as I speak, hope there is clear skies behind them. Na, Doug it's not you mate, can't have you getting a complex.

And Ken, yes i too saw the fire ball, and plenty of Meteors, all in all it was a great night, we sure pay for it the next day.

You mean the red eyes and that horrible taste in your mouth that won't go away no matter how many times you brush your teeth? Yep, I know it well
But what a great way to get to this condition

It was cloudy for me in the early evening so as usual I didn't bother to set up and yep you guessed it, crystal clear now.

My first chance at imaging in nearly two months and I missed it. :mad2:

I will remain calm, I will remain calm:tasdevil:

Ric I think we got a bit cocky down here, it did cloud over last night, but today looks very promising, but then there is still heaps of time left for it to get dirty before tonight.

Came home last night around 9pm after a work meeting, then Suz got me into painting the lounge till 11. Looked outside and it was cool and very clear but I was too tired to take advantage!!
Tonight hopefully!
