Had to battle the jetstream and some ground level wind. Doesn't take much to shake the cat canon around but hey, when the cloud clears you just have to get out there. :)

Mars at about 40° and Saturn at only 25°. Both shot with 5x powermate and spc900.

cheers

Mark,

Nice images. I'm thinking about getting a 5x powermate. Do you have any issues with focus using it in combination with the 10" Newt and the webcam?

No focus issues as far as focus travel goes on a standard crayford type focuser. Plenty of out travel.

Actually focusing on a planet, that's another story. You need good/steady seeing and a well collimated scope to get results.

I'm only new at this so I can't say to much. My efforts are poor at best but I'm not sure if that's me, the environment, my equipment or all of the above.

But I still enjoy it.

Hi Mark.

I reckon you're being a little hard on yourself there, mate.

They are not bad images at all.

They look a tad dark on my screen, but maybe that's just my laptop:shrug:

There's plenty of detail there and you've done well for the conditions you've described and that you are new to the whole imaging caper.

Cheers.

Hope you don't mind.

I did a simple little brightness/contrast adjustment to lift the levels a tad.

Good stuff:thumbsup:

great images buddy! I must say that my attempts to image using the 900 has been futile since i cant focus!!! ive been waiting for some time to have a crack at the moon again this time with a emptied barlow which was suggested by others.

I don't mind, it seems there's no hard fast rule for post processing. Every photo is unique and needs it own level of tweaking. There seems to be a lot of variance in what you see from monitor to monitor also.
