Hi all,
I have not posted for a while. I have been to New Zealand doing my other love, fly fishing for sea run brown trout and the touristy thing with the wife in between her work commitments.

Anyway had a go at deep space photography with a self modified Philips SPC900NC and chose NGC104 as my first target. I am quite pleased with the result but I am having trouble working out best balance for the telescope. I am using EQ6 Pro goto with 10" Newt no guiding but am working on getting that going at the moment.

Please enjoy my humble first attempt.

Brenton.

Well you must be happy to bag that for starters.
What exposure times? Did you stack?
Great mount the eq6

Great first go.
You didn't burn out the core, terrific.

Nice, just need to get the guiding going or stack shorter exposures.

Looks pretty good - globulars are hard to get looking great in any case....
Nice first effort

I agree! a fine first go with a modded webcam. Get your guiding up and running and we shall see some great results!
We need a new webcam imager now that Ken has turned to the dark side!!.;)
cheers

Thanks all for the kind words.
Yes I need to sort out the guiding, should not be to far off.
Exposure time were 20 x 10 sec stacked in registax, same amount of dark frames. Also used the best single frame from the AVI to combine in photoshop so that the centre was not burnt out.
Colour is not correct but slowly I hope to get on top of it.
Next I want to try series of exposures to bring out the fainter stars and play more with the processing, this time of the year finding the time is not easy.

Regards

Brenton.
