Due to this continual cloud cover:(. Good for the farmers. I thought I would follow the recent moon theme. This is an image taken the morning of the last lunar eclipse in August from the front veranda.:D

The AAT is to the west of here so this is moon set at around 6am (I'd have to check photo log), the lunar eclipse occured the following night.
The photo I'm really after is moon/sunset behind the AAT. I missed it this spring due to cloud . I will have to closely consult the planetarium programs for the next chance.

Well spotted.;)
The first image was the moon as it touched the trees. The forground was dark (underexposed). By 45min later the sunlight had reached the hills The trees were needed for the alignment of the images.
Both were taken from the same place on the veranda.
Cheers

yes indeed, Jeff complains that in winter at his place there, its so dark the milky way is too bright and causes sky fog hehehe. That pesky airglow and zodiacal light too.
