well here's my second shot through the scope, i think my focus is better in this shot then my last (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=25949), however it's harder to tell with such a small terminator.

100% crop, Canon 350D, Prime focus through S/W ED80 on S/W HEQ5, 1600/s @ ISO400, no PP other than a slight sharpen and a crop

enjoy i spose.

EDIT: i think i should've used ISO100, and ICNR, taken a few shots and stacked them

Definitely nice and sharp, but very dim. A longer exposure or a higher-ISO would've filled the histogram a bit more.

Getting some good results, Josh. Well done.

mmm, there was a bit of light cloud around so getting focus was tricky enough and i'm still getting used to manually setting my shutter speed for the available light, i hope to get a moon filter soon to add a bit more contrast to the viewing, but each time is a learning experience!

and i definitely need to start taking RAW shots!

I don't think the moon filter will help. You should really just be using exposure and ISO to get the histogram how you want it.

Even though the LCD preview is stretched, it's still worth checking the histogram after your shot as a rough guide to your exposure.

And yes, take in RAW! It gives you much more ability for post-processing afterwards, even though it adds more time and diskspace into your workflow.

No worries josh, definitely practise practise practise! And experiment!

For only your second shot, it's still very nice, and sharp. So you're well on your way.
